Fall Into Color: The Best Hair Trends for October in Denver

There's something about October in Colorado that makes you want to change things up. The aspens are turning gold, the air has that crisp bite to it, and suddenly the bright, icy blondes of summer start to feel a little out of place. Fall is hands-down my favorite season for hair color — and after 35 years behind the chair at Tim's Teazz, I still get excited every year when clients start coming in asking for that warm, rich autumn look.

The biggest trend I'm seeing this fall is what I call 'lived-in warmth' — hair that looks like it naturally deepened with the season. Think rich caramel blondes, warm honey tones, and deep copper-brunettes with golden undertones. It's not about going dramatically darker overnight. It's about adding depth and dimension that feels organic, like your hair just absorbed all that beautiful Colorado fall light.

For my blonde clients, I'm recommending a technique called 'shadow rooting' — adding a slightly deeper, warmer tone at the root that blends seamlessly into your existing blonde. It creates that gorgeous, dimensional look that photographs beautifully and grows out even more beautifully. No harsh lines, no obvious regrowth. Just effortlessly rich color that feels intentional.

Brunettes are having a major moment this fall too. Deep chocolate browns with subtle auburn or copper highlights are everywhere right now — and they work on virtually every skin tone. I've been using Framesi's warm brunette range to create these looks, and the depth and richness of the color is just stunning. It catches the light in a way that makes hair look incredibly healthy and dimensional.

One thing I always remind my Denver clients: fall in Colorado means dry air, and dry air means dry hair. The drop in humidity that comes with October can make color-treated hair look dull and feel brittle faster than you'd expect. This is the time to double down on your conditioning routine. I recommend adding a weekly deep conditioning mask — the Framesi Deep Conditioning Mask is my go-to — and switching to a richer, more moisturizing shampoo and conditioner if you haven't already.
